In the Beginning

The Axis Group I, LLC was developed in 2004 and began as a consulting firm to help address systems change and nonprofit development for programs serving persons with special needs. Located at that time in Florida, the Axis Group I began its work by serving programs across the country who were looking for technical assistance, training, presentations, and keynote speakers.

 

Growing years

That initial effort quickly blossomed into a corporation with multiple partners, assets, resources, tools, and services.  The corporation has contracted nationally and internationally to assist organizations and public and private programs in the development of systems that are responsive to the people they serve, their mission and vision, and accountable to their funders. Along the way collateral partners were identified and the capacity expanded with each encounter. The people and programs served became the teachers and their shared knowledge thrust the Axis Group I forward with a new passion and energy.

 

Where We are Going

The Axis Group I, LLC grew out of recognition that if organizations and programs were going to continue to exist in today’s economy, it would take a “wrap around” approach that respected the dedication and passion of leadership; balanced with the realities of survival. The “wrap” is founded in tools, training, support, and opportunity that match the targeted needs of each individual within each organization or program. We have learned that by offering a diverse array of services, products, and supports and allowing leaders to self-select what their instinct tells them is crucial, we can better assist in creating the culture of opportunity within their organization or program that works for them.

 

We will continue to build our capacity to partner and learn from those around us; paying forward that knowledge with each encounter. We are not alone on this journey and the road is filled with peers, comrades, and people that believe that vulnerable populations are worth fighting for and that the diversity of this nation is what makes it great.

 

Our Team

Conni Wells

The Axis Group I, LLC is managed by Conni Wells.  Ms. Wells has a breadth of expertise in organizational management and sustainability.  She was the Founder and Executive Director of a nonprofit organization where she received direct experience in risk management, accountability, compliance, and sustainability through interactions with federal, state, and private financing models.  She furthered her expertise on the National level as the Chief Officer of National Training and Education of a federally funded program; coordinating the technical assistance team and developing resources that would assist nonprofits across the nation to create sound infrastructures built on compliance and accountability.

 

Stacy Justiss

Stacy Justiss is the Technical Assistance Coordinator and has extensive experience in providing technical assistance and coaching in organizational governance and development, developing strategic plans for mission based management and organizational sustainability, developing effective community partnerships and improving the organizational capacity of smaller, community-based organizations across the nation. She brings to the table her own lived experience and has exposed her to families and consumers on a daily basis and to assist them in navigating their system of care becoming a systems change agent.  She has previously worked for a National Technical Assistance Center, ran a nonprofit, and supervised remotely located peer consultants for a state program.

 

Lindsay Phillips

Lindsay Phillips serves as the Resource Coordinator, helping the Axis Group I to access the multitude of resources available while keeping pace with emerging practices. Her expertise crosses every program within the Axis Group I and promotes the aptitude of the company to respond to the changing needs of its clients and partners. She assists in formatting and creating resources and publications, researching resources, and business development within the company. Her lived experience contributes to the company’s capacity to maintain a finger on the pulse of those receiving services and the challenges they face locating accessible, adequate, and affordable services that are responsive to their real needs. Her background is in accounting, program development, monitoring program services, and facilitating systems transformation.

 

Axis Group I Partners:

The Axis Group I has established partnerships with organizations, companies, consultants and lived experience representatives across the nation to assist in making sure that all services and products are responsive, up to date, creative, and relevant. We utilize these resources on a regular basis to continue building the quality of our services and products and to ensure we are linked with the world through its real experts.
